Could you be the Newtownabbey Xmas Pop Idol 2005?

Calling all Justin’s and Brittney’s!   Following the success of Xmas Pop Idol last year, the search is on for the Newtownabbey Xmas Pop Idol 2005 who will make sure this year’s celebration will be a chart topping success!

Fame Academy ’s Malachy Cush, Xmas Pop Idol judge, Keith Semple  and City Beat’s Stuart Robinson joined last year’s Pop Idols to launch the search for the next Newtownabbey Xmas Pop Idol.  Organised by Newtownabbey Borough Council in association with City Beat’s Stuart Robinson , Xmas Pop Idol wannabes can audition on Saturday 5th November at the Valley Leisure Centre.  Applicants who are successful at the auditions will then compete on either Saturday 12th November at Northcott Shopping Centre or Saturday 19th November at Abbeycentre.  The competition is open to anyone between the ages of 8-18, with a Junior category for the 8 – 12 year olds and a senior category for the 13 – 18 year olds.

Participants will be asked to perform a popular song of their choice in front of a panel of judges and prizes will be awarded on the basis of a point scoring system.  Winners will play a key role in the Council’s Christmas activities performing live on stage at the Glengormley and Ballyclare Christmas Lighting Ceremonies, win a shopping spree in Northcott or the Abbeycentre and record their own CD.

Pop Idol hopefuls must register for an audition by calling 028 9034 0060 by Tuesday 1st November.  Only a limited number of competitors can be seen at the auditions so register early!
