The History of this Website
It all began back in September 1999 I was looking on the internet for some info on Bangor and noticed how poor is was to find out what I wanted to know. The problem was back then that the only website that there was on Bangor, was the local council site and believe me it was very poor indeed in fact it was so poor that I decided that I could do a better job of it and make one that was much more interesting to the public. So over the next three weeks I put together a crude basic site with FrontPage Express which was very basic indeed in fact it only had one page. The next step after I had saved my site onto a disk was to get it up and running. So I enlisted a help of my friend Robert who had a bit more knowledge of how to get a website online. The next step was we created an account with Geocities.com and then uploaded my page for the world to see. Then the next problem was how to get people to find it and that was very hard. I had to register with Addme.com and loads of other search engines over and over again then finely I got listed in Hotbot and from there people started to visit my site.

The next thing that happened was in January 2000 I went on a Computer training course in Belfast that involved spending time and living and training in the USA. As a result I got an NVQ level 2 qualification in computer repair and support. When I got home to Bangor I started to work on this site again with a better understanding of how to do it.
In April 2000 I was talking to a friend and he was saying that he had got his own domain name free online at freenetmame.co.uk This sounded great to me so I went online and registered with them for www.bangor-countydown.co.uk and ever since when I have a little time to spare I do a bit of work on it.
